The seperation of the two

I held her hand in vision defeating darkness; with water at are feet and nothing around to feel but her hand. We were destine to part ways...

The story of the tamed Phoenix

I took her UP like I promised
We weren't fucking, with her it was more like FLYING It was when she looked down
That she began to realize
That not everyone resides in the SKY
N she to asked y
And I replied
That's just the way it goes
In the land of friend and foe
See, if you hate
you can never LEVITATE
& hold rank in the SKY n she asked Y
So asked Y
Dontchu like the FLY
She said "yeah but"
by then I had enough
In a rage I clipped her wingz and banished her from SKY
As she fell
She cried Y
I replied
Because non believers are never to FLY
From time to time
I hear her cries
When she looks at the SKY
Her eyes began to water
One day she cried so LOUD
I separated the CLOUDS
To see for myself
How she had been living on the ground
When I saw her
Her wingz had not grown back
When banished her
She took up with a LACK
In all his jealousy
He placed chains on her back
She had been crying
Because she was dying
She hadn't known him
And he claims to have FLOWN in
It was true that I didn't know this guy
And he had never lived in the SKY
He was a Gremlin from the flats of the desert
A peasant of the night
And when I saw her
I began regret the dismissal of her FLIGHT
She was DULL and salty as the shores of HULL
With no end in sight
See now I can never save her
See like a song bird her way to SKY
Had been through WINGZ
Since those are gone
I had to move on
Never again
could I watch her do her thing
She's trapped in his world
Forever to be ranked
Among the other girls
Stripped of her diamonds and pearls
Only cheap gold
Forever to never break the mold
She's accepted her way of life
Confused & Bound to the ground
Never to remember her days of FLIGHT
it was all for the good
See she was too HOOD
Which is sometimes good
I remember when I clipped her WINGZ and
Banished her from the SKY
She cried Y
N I replied
All non-believers
Are never to FLY

How extraordinary.....

The Face Book social network in its entirety has proven itself to many to be a positive and innovative invention. It is sighted by the world as the most personal social network ever configured. However, it is this same positive feature that enables its detrimental factors.
The Face Book, also known to many as The Book, has literally changed the way the entire world connects socially. It has revamped especially cell phone distribution. The cell phone distributors/ manufacturers are hiring and firing creators/ architects every day. This is mainly due to the need to keep up with other distributors. One key factor is that all smart phones have to have The Face Book app; this is just a general requirement now of days. If not, Internet accessibility has to be optimum; a quick and easy process. Last year, BlackBerry added The Face Book as one of its premier apps in an attempt to compete with sale of phone devices such as, the IPhone and all other Android devices. The application is re-configured and updated monthly. It is swift and it allows those who prefer the BlackBerry device not to be lead astray by other phones.
Through The Face Book many people connect with people who can be of service to them professionally and vice verso. It allows us to network in a new manor. I am in no way denouncing the traditional networking standard as it is still the optimum way to network with others. However it is making things a lot easier, and when you go to networking events business cards now read the persons Face Book account.
This invention is being used in all social settings including the world of academia. Everyday more and more teachers are using The Face Book to connect with their students. Whether it is discussion forums or class based pages, teachers are now able to connect with their students outside of class. Don’t get me wrong we’ve had email for a while, however students were not always so inclined to check there emails. Now connecting with teachers is not a hassle because you’re already there. This device is making things easier and aiding the world in its launch into a fast paced tech era. The Face Book unites everyone in spite of race, age, interest and life style.
Along with all the positive factors “which have not been listed in their entirety” are the many negatives. One of most major negatives that to some may double as a positive is the personal aspect of The Face Book. Without permission or prompted request of consent, some apps on the social network are configured to search and find information that some would deem private. For sake of accountability, when you create an account you are asked to provide personal information such as your phone number, address, school, and occupation. Many feel that this it isn’t unnecessary to request this very private information. This is thought by many to be unnecessary due the fact that it is already such an unsecured and open engine. Although reassured by Face Book technicians that the theft of information will not occur, many fear that this type of information is too personal.
Sadly this is due to another negative that can be found on the face book. That is the horrible invention of the hate page. Hateful users in a variety of ages and back rounds are using face book to connect with other hateful users. These pages are not so blatantly put up anymore, however they are still around. The hate page and its negative affects seem to be lingering around the youth now of days. People are creating more personal hate pages about people they know. These users are literally ruining the lives of many. Whether the situation be as small as rival sports teams to enemies; there have been countless boys and girls who have feel victim to the Hate Page.
In the past the YouTube video manager was used in this way. However the Face Book hate pages seem to be hitting home. There has been record breaking violence surrounding the configuration of the Hate Page. Whether it comes down to social alienation, fist fights, or suicide these pages are causing much damage to those subjected to its razor edge. There are even reports of lost jobs due to a pages creation. The motive is not always known. But one thing for certain is that defamation of character is the act carried out.
Other negatives that are not as big are the portrayal of emotions and mental standing. Many people will see this as a small negative if that at all. I disagree. When you look at someone’s page, you are most likely led to believe that he or she is having the best/worst time of their lives. While most aim towards for the “I’m Okay” perspective, this is most certainly not the case for all.
If you were to sit back and think about it, with all the good things one could write about them, he or she could easily convince themselves that are actually doing as good as their making it seem. Due to the fact that it is so regularly used, over a substantial amount of time one can undergo a severe lack of progress, which is something a lot of youth are currently suffering from. So in that sense it is one of the major negative factors.
Overall, the positive factors of The Face Book will outnumber the negatives. This does not mean that the negatives should go unnoticed. With all due respect this social network engine was created to make things easier and in no way were these negatives foreseen. In end result the configuration of The Face Book changed the way the world connects socially and should be compared to the invention of the email. Some would even argue that it should be compared to the invention of the telephone.

Some Attributes

Three Things I am good at:

1.Good listener = actually taking in the things that are being said to me.
2.Motivational speaker = Speaking to pairs family members in positive ways that uplift them.
3.Being Responsible = Knowing what what needs to be done and knowing what I should maintain etc...

Three things I like:

1.Meeting new people
2.Spending spare time with family and friends
3.Shopping

Combinations of I am good at and things I like to do:

Being a good listener ties into meeting new people and spending spare time with family and friends.
I say this because, when meeting new people you don't what the situation might be. You could meet that person while they are going through one of the toughest times in their life; when they really need someone to listen to them.
Sometimes family may need someone to speak with someone who can relate to them in the ways needed for that particular family member to express themselves fully and openly.

Sometimes after listening to someone explain something that is troubling them, they may need motivational - speaking, in order to lift them up and instill/restore a positive mindset

Now I must admit that I haven't always had the best sense of responsibility; my past shopping habits prove this best. Now I know my limits when it comes to spending money on clothing.

All of the things that I like to do as well as the things I am good at are things I value, yes even shopping.

He's on our side

Reading the title alone, one may come to many conclusions as to what I mean when I say this.
What I'm really trying to say is that he stands for the betterment of all of the urban youth in America; he not only stands but he takes action in defending our futures.

I am currently a student at Year Up, a one year intensive training program that caters to low-income youth from ages 18-24. The program is intense, students will either choose the (IT) technology and (FO) financial operations. While at Year Up students also attend required classes that will enhance they're business/professional etiquette. Students attend these prep classes for six months and then they move on to the internships for the remainder of the year, where they put their skills to the test. They are evaluated through the whole six months, and if the company likes the work they do, it is possible for them to get hired. All throughout the year, students are rewarded with points when complying with the all requirements, and infracted when not; infractions result in the loss of fifteen points, which equals the lost of fifteen dollars from the bi-weekly stipends awarded to all students. Many students go on to pursue higher ranked careers in the fields that they were taught the basics in at Year Up. The whole program was strategically put together to bridge the ever so evident opportunity divide that lies between suburban and urban America.

This idea did not come over night for Founder Gerald Chertavian, it was actually a dream before a dream in my perspective. In 1985 the Harvard business school grad took part in the Big Brother association, mentoring a man named David who was only 9 at the time and lived in lower east Manhattan, which in the 80's was drug infested, and housed predominately low-income family's. It was then that Chertavian noticed how unfair things were for the youth that lived there; he made a promise to David, (who he still keeps in touch with to this very day) that he would stand by him and help him become the man he wanted to be.

It would be years before Chertavian would come up with the blue print for Year Up, but the thought of how unfair things were for David and others like him could not seem to leave his mind. He went on to be recognized as one of New York's outstanding Big Brothers in 1989.

Gerald went on to receive a B.A in economics from Bowdoin college and went on to receive his M.B.A., with honors from Harvard Business school. He began his career on Wall Street as an officer of the chemical banking corporation and then moved on to become the had of marketing at Transnational Financial Services in London.

He then co-Founded the very prosperous Conduit Communications in 1993.
In 1999 he sold Conduit to I-cube.

In that year he returned his attention to the needs of others.
He came up with a plan to start a non-profit organization to service the urban youth in America while giving companies a solution for recruiting entry-level employees.

I have had the chance to meet Gerald Chertavian more than once, I attend one of the 6 Year Up's that he has helped open in six different states.

I feel that his concern for Urban Youth in America is genuine.

To me he is an American hero.

The best solution yet

Alright here me out. A person is convicted of a crime that is considered a misdemeanor and given a six month probation period. How long is it before he is a free man/woman ?

a. 6 months b. 1 year c. 18 months

A person is convicted of a crime that is considered a felony and sentenced to two years in a correctional facility that is paid $80,000 a year to keep him/her. How long is it before he is free man/woman ?

a. 2 years b. 4 years c. 6 years

If you answered a. for both questions you are technically correct.

But what about when these people are set free. Are they really free to live their lives ?

Well yeah if your looking at it from the perspective that they are no longer on probation or incarcerated. One thing people forget is that they now have C.O.R.I.. A piece of information that consist of all their offences, that can be viewed by various different places one would need to go to in order to truly reinvent themselves as a law abiding citizen. Ones C.O.R.I. follow them for ten to fifteen years considering whether or not the crime committed was a misdemeanor or a felony. This for many people this is a huge road block in the already difficult process that is reinventing yourself. Some just feel that they shouldn't even put any effort into it because its not going to happen while others cling to their old ways for the same reason.

To me this is extremely to long for someone to be tied to their past.
Now I'm not saying that someone should just be granted a clean slate. What I am saying is that they should be given a chance to simply make the past the past.

I propose the simple solution that if someone has a criminal past that someone should be able to some what erase their past. I propose that the government start a program that would allow someone with a criminal record to prove to the state over a two year period through a series of evaluations administered by a government official that they are and will continue to be a changed person. I'm not saying that it should be easy but it should be fair with a sufficient turn out of ex-criminals into the world as new individuals with a clear background.

The are various solutions....

You see, someones C.O.R.I is there private information and is only supposed to be viewed by those who have the authority to view it. Future employers certain school's etc...
I'd like to make one thing clear before I go any further. I myself feel that these people should have the authority to use ones C.O.R.I when making big decisions, such as hiring someone for a job. One thing I don't agree with is schools having this authority. Your probably saying right now that I must have my facts confused, but I don't. You see a school can not deny you admittance as long as you meet all admissions expectations. This is because it is against the law. It is when you are deciding your major or certificate program when you will experience this injustice. I myself have gone through this. I was looking through a course list for a particular community college I had in mind and stumbled upon a 2 certificate programs that interested me. I don t actually remember the exact titles but the first was a program that had allot do with at risk youth and the prevention further criminal offences. The other was in relation to the prevention of substance abuse. Both of these programs required a C.O.R.I evaluation. At first it seemed fair considering that job placement might be a hassle in the future. I was later informed by someone in admissions that this was not for job placement, and that it was standard procedure before entry. How fair is that? Not fair at all if you ask me. I mean wouldn't someone who has fell victim to the very things these programs are trying to prevent know a few angles and methods that are useful. I'd say so.
There are others who feel just as strongly as I do and have come up with their own solutions.

My solution to this particular problem, is that not only should schools allow students who have criminal backgrounds into these programs, but that they should encourage this. You see who would know more about its prevention than someone who once could not prevent it. I think if someone has once made a mistake and learned from it they may be able to teach others how not to.

Enough already !!!

So its been almost a year since my release from the south bay correctional facility and in that time lapse I've had two jobs, enrolled in community college, and started I.T. training. Everything I've just mentioned are things that I am extremely thankful and proud of. I must admit it hasn't been easy. Setting out to accomplish these things is a challenge for me daily. How ever this a challenge I welcome with open arms because I know that in the end it will be worth its labor. The only thing that has been able to bring me to a halting standstill has been my c.o.r.i (criminal offender record information). I am not denying the fact that the crimes that are listed on it were committed by me, my main concern is how big of a road block it is for me along and others who share the same want to accomplish more in life. I my opinion, I think I have a very unyielding and persistent mindset in terms of my future, others may not. That in itself is an entire different topic that stems from what we call the c.o.r.i.. I personally feel that it is a fair method, I just feel that there should be more guidelines to its use. You see even if you have gone to jail and completed your time you are still subjected to the ten to fifteen year wait time it takes for the government to clear your criminal record. I feel along with many others who are now trying to correct the mistakes they've made with the law that this an unjust punishment that can prove detrimental to our futures. Its as if you are still serving time, this is an unfair act against the many men/women stand corrected after they're incarceration in correctional facilities. I think that there should be a way that you can prove yourself as reformed member of society through an intense series of evaluations performed by the govt that should not last more than three years, and if accomplished you should receive some sort of removal of offences from your Cori... followers what do you think?

"Im goin up yonder"

Id just like to start off by saying that I do believe that there is a god, but that I don't consider myself an extremely religious person. I would like to think of myself as being more spiritual than religious. I know that probably sounds as if I'm sort of undecided, but no I do believe in god through christian faith. Its just that my family says that if you have full faith in god you will worship ritually in an atmosphere closer to him. When saying this they basically why don't you go to church? Honestly I'm at a point in my life where I'm finding myself, and if in this search I find my way back to the church than so be it.

I think that American religion has changed over the years. I think that religion like many other American pillars have been changed due to our diversity as country in whole. Whether it be race, culture, or belief These have all played a major role in the change of religion and the way it is practiced. Our culture plays a big role in religion and how it is practiced . For instance although they share the christian faith, Black, White and Hispanic America practice this faith differently. Through the years culture has been applied making it own faith inside the thought everyone is serving same purpose. For instance the practice of Christan faith in the black church is practiced with much emotion. It is sometimes taught as if it is a struggle and that you have to keep up the good fight. In the Spanish church it is taught and practiced similar with few differences.

There are other things that have also changed religion that are not so appreciated. Such as the molestation of alter in various catholic Church's. I think that has changed the belief of not all but many catholics world wide. I mean just the fact that the priest in the catholic church is so highly thought of provides with enough to come to that conclusion on your own. Ive actually spoken to a man that was once catholic who is now an atheist because of this. His whole argument on his conversion was not based on having been molested because it didn't happen to him, just the thought that the almighty god could allow this was enough for him.

I think that American religion has changed, and that it will continue to do so because like any place that is diverse in its people with equality off all change will forever be inevitable...

Throwing rocks at a mountain

I've just finished reading the pearl harbor speech, by then president Franklin D. Roosevelt Knowing what I've learned about this altercation between the u.s. and japan. I feel that this speech was less than informative and only gave the basic knowledge as to what caused this attack, in some right it be compared to the media's reaction to 9/11. I am not in anyway saying that either of these actions are justified, however what I am saying is that we as Americans can sometimes be naive when thinking of our leaders and what they tell us.

Although very short, this speech is a prime example of how far our government will go when covering their own foul moves. I'm not completely sure that the government failed to inform Americans when we cut off japans petroleum connections (a strategy we used to keep japan out of Chinese war which worked because you need petroleum to run the artillery and machinery needed in war.) but I'm pretty sure it wasn't recanted until later years.

Time and time again we continue to do the rest of the world injustice and then when it treats us the way it should after constant one sided abuse we act as if their has been no wrong doing on our part. Once again I'm not saying what happend in pearl harbor or what happend in new york on 9/11 is justified. All I'm saying is that these two tragedy's were deffinitely provoked.

tell me what you think please

The Battle for Humanity is Not Lost!!!

In this speech, W.E.B Duboise, clarifies all avenues of question in regards to the civil rights movement's purpose and its origin. In this very powerful speech he evokes a very prideful spark in me as well as others. His unyielding view on a better life for his people as well as all Americans is almost vivid through his choice of words. His approach to the movement can be closely compared to that of the great Martin Luther King Jr. Their shared strategy of a nonviolent but very stern and persistent effort proved to be very strategic in the progress of the civil rights movement.

This speech was written for the ears of all Americans. Your race, gender or economic status wasn't an issue. It was written with the hope that its listening audience could feel what he and his race felt. This was an attempt to let America Know that conditions were not okay, he also spoke of amendments 14 and 15. The 14TH which covers various rights given to all that are considered citizen's. Whether born here or granted naturalization these rights are yours. The 15Th which states that know government is able deny any citizen their rights to voting regardless to race, color or previous standings ( slavery).

At this particular point in time these amendments were no upheld to all. The equality between blacks and whites was not even in question, "it simply didn't exist"!. Later on this was to be proved by the enhancement of an already extremely unfair segregation in 1940. There would be no turn around until 1954 in the historical when in the case of "brown v.s. the board of education" which abolished segregation. An African American living in this time would most certainly have felt inferior in terms of his/her rights and the chance at success that a white individual was given.

During this time Id say it was definitely hard to keep pride, but those who did held on it through faith in the civil rights movement and its leaders, actually taking part in the movement, or simply just faith in god with hope that he would make a way. For some African Americans this would prove to be to much. In reaction they blasphemed the movement claiming it would only make the already unjust conditions worst. Most of those who did go against the movement were confused although they wanted a change they for some reason did think this was the way to go about it. A small percentage of others agreed with the way they were being treated claiming that this was better than slavery and should be quietly accepted and would frequently speak against the movement and its followers.

To me this speech meant many things and pride for all was certainly one of them. I don't think this speech was meant in any way to set African American apart from other races but to unite us in the attempt to say that conditions were unacceptable and unnecessary.

I personally feel that if compared to the struggle of any other race and culture it would prove far worst. But that's just my prospective.

In the Beggining : The coming of age of the american woman

After reading "The Seneca Falls Declaration" I feel I've been provided with an excellent view in regards to the "American Women's Suffrage Movement". This piece accurately describes the compelling inequality between men and women in those times. I mean even down to the fact that I along with many others are prone to announcing the man before the women when speaking or writing proves this. While reading this, I as a man feel guilty for some of my thoughts and expectations of women. I think I speak for all who have read this declaration with a humble and patient understanding for the female race and they're ongoing struggles when I say that Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Lucretia Mott have given the world a crucial and clear view of the hardship that women had to face in America and countries alike. I don't exclude other places in the world, where women are treated with such disrespect and unconcern because it is still outright an unfair world even if the women who lives in it agrees with it; or is it
You can only imagine the daily mental struggles these women dealt with daily. Its as if in every prior attempt they hit a brick wall. The fight in these women was huge and most of all justified.
Their goal was not to be pitied, placed on a pedestal, and most certainly not to be ignored but to coexist with the respect from other women for their effort and to be given the right to have the right to have a choice of what their lives would be like.
Because of these pioneers and their fight the world we live in is much more concerned with women and their input in this ever growing life. I feel that all movements involving race, sexual orientation, gender or any other righteous cause have and will continue to help each other through similar strategy and their equitable right to live a life with a sufficient amount acceptance Although women all over have come a long way their fight isn't over until we can all accept each other, you see in this declaration these women are not just saying that things needed to change for women, yes that was it's purpose but in my eyes this declaration screams for equality for all !!!
