my brother martin

Blog in response to Martin Luther Kings passage from " The world house"

In this passage he described not just African Americans but all Americans of being at risk of an UN-prosperous future if we didn't learn to live together as a concerned community.
He described the modern American as being someone with a serious decision at hand. Although giving the choice to not except change he made it clear that no race could benefit from wrong decision and in fact we would do more harm to the future than in the present day. In my prospective an American is someone who should always be ever growing because with out growth we are failing the American dream.

Being an American is something to take pride in. Not just in the since that we live in conditions that are better in comparison to other country's. Id say its that fact that we as Americans all have a choice of what direction to take our life in and are supplied the substantial resources to do so. Although there are laws and authority to abide by and we may still have separate opinions it is all what makes us American to be this way. Being that I am African American there are stereo types and stigmas that I face daily. But knowing that it is ending my choice whether or not to address such ignorance or to simply ignore it is one reason that makes being an American worth so great. You see I have the choice in this matter to let it go and not give it life. Although there are times when people have gone over and beyond to express they're hatred this is a time that it is not excepted. And to a degree that is all a person with a relentless view of pessimism concerning my ethnicity can do is have this opinion and if he/she feels the urge voice that opinion. But going any further than that would be unlawful so I chose to be the modern day American and move on as if it didn't happen hints the fact that we all have the choice. This choice we have is a choice that is underrated in America the people who seemed to not understand that they are the people who are left out. So you ask whether or not being an Americans something to take pride in ? and I say yes. This may or may not mean much to others in America but to me this is what sets us apart and if you ask me even a poor man could take pride in having choice as an American.
